What is PrEP?
PrEP means pre-exposure prophylaxis: medicines used by someone without HIV before possible exposure. When used correctly, protection against acquiring HIV through sex is very high. PrEP is not HIV treatment, does not prevent pregnancy and does not cover all other infections. Medical assessment and an appropriate negative HIV test are needed before starting.
How do I start?
Book a planned consultation with an infectious disease specialist. Discuss exposures, your health and appropriate tests before starting; the clinician determines the regimen and follow-up.
Booking and payment
Price: 30 €.
An appointment must be booked in advance for a planned PrEP consultation or a urology visit.
1. Choice of an available time and entry of personal details. 2. Email confirmation with a code. 3. Booking number (CP) and exact payment instructions. 4. Bank transfer with the booking number as the payment reference. 5. Upload of the payment document to the booking. 6. Review and confirmation of the payment by the CheckPoint Sofia team. 7. Zoom link (and Passcode, if there is one) and the online consultation.

Exposure in the last 72 hours?
PrEP does not replace PEP after an exposure. If there has already been sex during which HIV transmission was possible, read the information about PEP and consult a doctor as soon as possible – PEP must start no later than 72 hours after the exposure.
