Timing depends on the test

There is no single window for all infections. Test type, sample, symptoms and PrEP or PEP use affect the plan. Seek guidance after a recent exposure rather than waiting alone.

When to test

CheckPoint advertises a rapid antibody test using finger-prick blood. The usual window for antibody tests is 23–90 days after exposure. An early negative may need repeating. This differs from a venous laboratory antigen/antibody test with an 18–45 day window. PrEP and PEP can affect the plan; agree repeat testing with a clinician.
